Spot the Same! is a casual matching game by SmithScript. We collect the minimum data required to run multiplayer games and keep your account working. We do not sell your data or show ads.

Information we collect

• Account basics: username, profile image (optional), and an app-generated user ID.
• Gameplay: match participation, scores, simple timing/latency for fairness and anti-abuse.
• Device/diagnostics: crash logs and basic device info to fix bugs (platform, OS version).
• Permissions you choose: camera/photo library access only if you set an avatar from your device.

How we use information

• Authenticate players and sync games in real time.
• Show usernames/avatars to your lobby and friends.
• Detect spam or abuse and keep games fair.
• Improve reliability through crash reports and diagnostics.

Data sharing

We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the app:

• Authentication: a sign-in provider to manage your account and session securely.
• Backend & database: real-time game state and leaderboards.
• Crash reporting/analytics: to investigate app crashes and performance issues.

Providers process data on our behalf and under contractual confidentiality. We do not sell personal data.

Data retention

Account and gameplay data are kept while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time (see “Your rights”). Crash logs are typically retained for up to 90 days.

Your choices & rights

• Access/Update: edit your username and avatar in the app.
• Delete: request account deletion by emailing matt.smithscript@gmail.com. We’ll remove personal data unless we must retain some for legal or fraud-prevention reasons.
• Permissions: you can revoke camera/photo access in your device settings at any time.

Children

Spot the Same! is designed for general audiences but not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

International transfers

We may process and store data on servers outside your country. We take steps to protect data consistent with this policy wherever it is processed.

Security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls) to protect your data. No method is 100% secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We’ll update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
